The McCain-Palin VP Announcement
After a surreal week of traveling to speak at the Florida PPA State Convention (more on that very soon!) and heading back for a day before flying out to Ohio to cover the MCain Campaign's VP pick, I'm just now back at home and in catch up mode. I will post more images from this series of shoots - as well as some new photographs from a very recent Barack Obama town hall meeting - in the next few days. Many more to come, but I'm holding back several images for the article I'm

“The Art of Children’s Portrait Photography”
I just turned around the fourth and final proof of the book I've been working on for the last year (plus) - each time was a different review: text review, layout review, photography review, etc. This last review was the print review, and all looks just so wonderful. Amherst Media really did a fantastic job laying this book out, considering just how much text there is (trust me - A LOT), the book is quite visual with tons of huge photographs and cool spreads. I'll add a fe

Martha Stewart, Cookies & Cuteness
I was flipping through Martha Stewart Living and saw another one of my photographs in the magazine, this time for a Nestle Toll House Cookie ad. My kids soooo approve. And, huge bonus, it's one of my sweet friend (and client!) Alisa & her bubbly, beautiful daughter Parker. I immediately emailed her, thinking it would be this huge surprise, and she tells me she's already heard from everyone and the calls just keep coming in. (I guess it's a pretty big circulation, and

Olympics Medal Update :)
Shalane Flanagan took the bronze medal today in the 10,000 meter run, beating even her own American Record with a time of 30 minutes, 22:22 seconds, racing in front of 91,000 spectators. Even more amazing, Shalane was able to overcome a nasty bout of food poisoning that she picked up only 4 days earlier. Looking forward to her 5000 meter run in a few days...! Congratulations, Shalane!! (p.s. fun trivia: Shalane was also the first U.S. distance runner on the Olympic pod

The 4x100 USA Relay!!
Was sooooo cool to watch the 4x100 Relay win the gold last night!!! Woooo hooooo!!!!! It was a joy to watch Cullen accepting his gold, and Garrett Weber-Gale and "half man-half chlorine" Michael Phelps' reaction to the win was priceless.... what a final leg by Jason Lezak!!!!! I have to say, I chose not to finish filling out the details for a media pass to the Olympics nearly two years ago because I knew that it would be such a long break from all the other responsibilit

The Olympics!
The Olympics are officially underway, and it got me to thinking of how much Olympian photography I've had the honor of capturing lately :) I started last year with Cullen Jones, a two-time national swimming champion and a world record holder - and now an Olympian, securing his spot with his 100-meter performance in the Olympic Swim Trials. Here's the cover shoot and some of the editorial from our session last year - Cullen was so into the shoot, which made for some fantasti

The July Issue
The July Issue of Endurance Magazine features Tucker Dupree, a 19 year-old swimmer who will be representing the U.S. in the Paralymics Games in China this year. Getting dressed for school one day, nearly two years ago, Tucker suddenly became aware of a grey spot in the center of his left eye. Unconcerned at first, he saw his family doctor when the spot didn't go away over time. A single drop of blood told Tucker the genetic origin of his condition: Leber's Hereditary Opt

Charlie Engle - Running America
Charlie Engle is showcased in the World Changers section of our blog because of his series of significant accomplishments, not the least of which was running across Africa. I'm posting a handful of photographs from our second shoot with Charlie. I am so pleased with how many fantastic images we were able to get (it helps to have two assistants on hand) - I'll be posting more after they are published...! We were also treated to a private screening of the movie, Running The

I quite love that the first sentence of the piece was "I have ingested a few stems - yes." You can check out the full article here.
